A new video has been released to explain who the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) is and what it does. The video, which is less than one minute long, describes the NIHR ‘in a nutshell’ and features people from across the NIHR who are working towards improving the health and wealth of the nation through research.

Caroline Magee from the NIHR, who is featured in the video said:

"The NIHR is the most integrated clinical research system in the world, but not many people know that. We hope that this video will go some way to raise awareness of the important work we do so that we're no longer the 'hidden gem' in health and social care research"

The NIHR spends around £1 billion, driving research from bed to bedside, transforming research in the NHS, increasing the volume of applied health research for the benefit of patients and the public, driving faster translation of basic science discoveries into tangible benefits, developing and supporting the people who conduct and contribute to applied health research and attracting investment by the life sciences industry through its world-class facilities for health research.
